I definitely wasn't terrified by that, but I felt very uncomfortable for sure. Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer had that same effect on me, even though it's not strictly a horror book. Being alone in my apartment at night was suddenly kind of an iffy situation haha.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3352137456756274944.post-6837520170345915312015-01-12T16:15:28.934-05:002015-01-12T16:15:28.934-05:00I've gone into horror books since I was young ...I've gone into horror books since I was young knowing they won't scare me about 95% of the time. I normally can appreciate what they're trying to do? Normally I'm giggling? I'm not sure if that makes me sound very strange or not...
If you're looking for one that'll freak you out - have you read House of Leaves?
People say it's terrifying, but it was just a kind of slowly building tension that built to: was that there last night when I went to bed? Very psychological and very claustrophobic read, for sure. At points it was just slightly creepy, but I definitely found it more funny/quirky then anything. Was that the case?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
