Top Ten Tuesday: Top 2017 Reads (so far)

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature/meme run by The Broke and the Bookish every week - I've taken part a few times previously but not in a while. And this weeks theme, as you can tell by the title, is a midway favorite books check in. I've read some great books so far this year and so am super looking forward to doing this list.

These are in any particular order - besides kinda being in the order I read them. (Also no rereads will be on this list) (and this is as of Monday June 26th, and I'm currently reading one I think could be on this list but not done quite yet)

  • The Secret Lives of Rockstars by Suzanne Lazear
I don't know what it was about this book that just made it click so much with me but I freaking loved this book. It was a little weird and I was just so into it. Our main character, Bitsy, is part of like a steampunk / punk band - there are costumes - and they're currently on tour. Also there's a whole underworld of fantasy creatures and shenanigans ensure (of course). And, for some reason, I just loved it? (goodreads)
  • Binti + Binti: Home by Nnedi Okorafor
You've probably heard people waxing poetry about Binti by now and it is nowhere near not deserved. This series, so far, has blown me away. It's gone in directions I didn't expect it to go, and just thoroughly amazed me. I am dying to read the third one and, also, to read something else by this author. I'm pretty sure she's officially an autobuy for me. After two novella's. (series goodreads)
  • Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
This came out - I had no idea it was coming out - and so many people were freaking out about it that I just ended up picking it up because I knew: bi girl, conventions/YTers. And I go to, and love, conventions. And this didn't let me down? It was adorable and incredible. One of the characters is bisexual and Asian, another has anxiety and is on the autism spectrum. And I just - loved this? It was so cute at points I think I got cavities. (goodreads)
  • Even This Page is White by Vivek Shraya
Whew. This was... a read. It was incredible - obviously, or it wouldn't be on this list - but it really reminded me to check myself. I'm constantly trying to better myself (I guess is the way to put it) and unlearn things society has tried to force on me. Generally, just be a person with empathy and I think I'm to that, but this poetry collection reminded me of how much I can't know because I'm white. Definitely recommend this one for all (goodreads)
  • Radio Silence by Alice Oseman
This book. It's a YA contemporary and, for some reason, I never expect those to hit me in the gut but some of them do. This one, especially, for some reason. I think, probably, because there was no romance between our two main characters - one is bi, the other is demi. And it's said, on the page. He's still figuring it out but by the end: demisexual. I think I ascended to a higher plain of being? The friendships in this book, the characters, the WTNV references. Highly, highly recommend
(Trigger warnings: parental abuse (not to our POV character), dog death) (goodreads)
  • Words of Radiance + Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson
The Stormlight Archive series. Somehow, I' just never got around to the second one - I think I was mostly just terrified it couldn't live up to the first for me but also I get anxiety about books if I think about it too hard and never read them. The same with Bands of Mourning - Mistborn / Wax and Wayne #6. Neither disappointed, though, both were incredible. If you haven't checked out Sanderson yet: start with the original Mistborn trilogy, I promise it isn't as scary as it seems. Ignore the whole cosmere thing - just jump into that world first, you won't regret it. (stormlight) (mistborn)
  • Injection, Volumes 1 + 2 by Warren Ellis,
This series is fucking weird. And I love it. Technically I've read volume 1 previously but it felt weird to add volume 2 without 1, especially considering I can't really talk about volume 2. I don't even think I can explain the plot of this one. It's Warren Ellis and it has weird, fucked up elements. And I'm really, really hoping there's more? (series goodreads)
  • Lumberjanes, Volumes 5 + 6 by Noelle Stevenson,
This comic series is so good. It's just... so happy? It makes me feel like everything isn't going horribly wrong? They're battling problems but they can figure them out together and they're all adorable. There are bigger things lurking around the edges but, honestly, I'm fine with continuing with their camp adventures forever (literally forever. please never stop, Boom!) (series goodreads)
  • 27 Hours by Tristina Wright
One of, if not my number one, most anticipated books of the year. It comes out in October and you've all have got to keep your eyes out for it. This book features five characters - 4/5 are PoC, 5/5 are queer (ones pan, ones gay, one ace, ones bi, one is trans and also not straight). And the plot isn't lacking in anyway, but the characters definitely kept me reading. They're just so... I love them? I want them to all be happy, together, and I just love them all together? For the actual plot - it's SciFi - goodreads.

(Honestly, I've read a lot of good books so far this read. Really good books. And I'm pretty sure this is my favorite of the whole year so far. And I'm sorry I'm shouting about it months before it comes out but I have a lot of feelings about it - October 3rd!!)

  • Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee
I just was trying to decide between this one and others so I'm going to put honorable mentions down below. Anyway - this one. An asexual main character - the labels used. And there's a great flashback of her like basically googling and finding forums and just generally trying to learn about herself. (If memory serves both demisexual and greysexual are mentioned). And I just... this book was so fucking cute. And it made me so happy at the end even though it was predictable. (It also gave me severe Lizzie Bennet Diary vibes because of the webseries thing). (goodreads)

Top Ten Tuesday | Books On Your Fall TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. I haven't done one of these in a while - but I've been seeing people talking about the books that they want to read in the fall, basically that they want to read before the end of the year, and I've been mulling it over and over. Because I don't want to stress myself out too much, especially with my mom going to be moving (and needing help) and everything else.

First off, fall is the season of so many good books being released and also trying to figure out how to complete reading challenges before the end of the year - at least that's what is on my mind. There's a ton of new releases that I've pre-ordered and I'm looking forward to, but I'm not going to make any promises I can't keep (at least, I'm going to try not to).

  1. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - comes out on September 29th and I've been hearing literally nothing but good things about this book, and it's a heist story in a fantasy world. I am so far sold, and I need this book in my life, one more week, I can (hopefully) survive one more week.
  2. Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness - I need to finish this series before the first two books start to fade (more then they already have). I'm putting it off, mostly, because I know it's going to destroy my soul, probably, but I also need to know what happens.
  3. The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien - This might be slightly cheating, since I'm like halfway through this, but it's been taking me forever, so at this point it's like hopefully I can finish this soon.
  4. the Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - this is for the Book Riot Read Harder challenge, I think this is going to be my book by an African author.
  5. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab - it's honestly ridiculous I haven't read this yet, and just shows how much my reading is so messed up right now that I didn't immediately sit down and read this. I pre-ordered this, I have two copies now, I need to just get to it at some point.
  6. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard - also for the RH challenge, a book by an author that was under 25 when the book was published, and from what I've found she was, and also something I pre-ordered that I should get to.
  7. Zeroes by Chuck Wendig - also something I preordered, also something I should get to. I own a good number of Chuck's books for never having read one, need to read this.
  8. The Shining by Stephen King - I, a professed King fan, have never read this. I know, it's awful, but it's going to be spooky season and I'm living in a building that is possibly haunted and also the corridors are creepy, so it seems like the perfect time to read this.
  9. The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer - pre-ordered this one, signed. And it's AFP, but it's also one I know is going to make me sob my heart out, even though it's also going to help. Also I'm going to use it for the 'self-help' book part of the RH challenge, I feel like it'll fit that in a not normal way.
  10. Stonewall by Martin Duberman - this book is taking me forever to read, and I'm not sure how I'm feeling about it, but I want to keep reading it? I'm currently not focusing on it, have kind of put it to the side, but I'd like to finish in the next few months, if not then by the end of the year. Hopefully.
And I think that's my kind of off the cuff list of books, I probably should of just included all my remaining RH challenges but I decided against doing that, there's other things I want to read, too. I've still got 11 challenges left to go, though, but I haven't been overly pushing myself to finish it by the end of the year? (They've said it wasn't a year thing, and if I don't finish it by the end of the year, I still want to push myself to try and finish all of the challenges because they're definitely challenges).

Let me know what's on your fall TBR, if you did this topic, or whatever you'd like!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Can't Believe I've Never Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish.

This week is a freebie week, and I wasn't going to take part in it, but there are so many topics that've passed that I haven't been able to do. So, this week, I'm going to tell you about some books that I can't believe I haven't read yet.

  • The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien - I honestly am slightly ashamed to have never read this, I own all of them (in more then one edition) and, obviously, I've seen the movies (probably too many times). I'd like to read them... soon, SOON. That's probably to be said about all of them.
  • Classics - I could go on and on about the classics I can't believe I haven't read yet, and I didn't want probably half the things on this list to be that. So, quickly, a few examples: 1984, more H.G. Wells, more Austen (I've only read Pride and Prejudice), any of Dicken's novels, and many, many more.
  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - I know, I know. I can't believe I haven't read this either, but I don't like sobbing during books and I know that this book is going to cause that. I'll get to it, I will, I'm just not sure when?
  • more Stephen King - I've read a good few books by King (IT, Bag of Bones, Duma Key, Carrie, The Gunslinger, Dreamcatcher, more), but there are some that I really need to get it. Mostly, I'm specifically thinking of The Stand, because it's considered so highly and I'm mostly slightly scared of the 1,200 pages (I'd just jump right in and read the extended edition, it's the one I own). And I want to read it and have started it before, but it's slightly... daunting, very daunting.
  • Sabriel by Garth Nix (and the rest of the series, of course) - but it's been quite a few years that I've wanted to read them, but I haven't do it yet. I don't know why, I own all three and the prequel just came out, but I think I'd like to finish some series before starting more (even though I'm kind of itching to start this one).
  • The Sanderson books I have left. I don't have many, but I still can't believe I haven't read those I haven't gotten to yet. Firefight, Legion:Skin Deep, Elantris, The Allow of Law, Words of Radiance (I know, I know), and the last two Alcatraz books. Not many, at all, and it's not like I haven't been working my way through his work. On one hand - I want to have read them all because I love his books (also - cosmere theories). However, I don't want to be out of his books to read.
  • Abbadon's Gate by James S.A. Corey - I loved this series and I honestly can't believe that I haven't continued on to books three and four yet. I kind of want to reread one and two now, before continuing, because I want everything to be fresh in my mind (also - TV series, this year, I want it now).
  • Stone of Tears (Sword of Truth #2) by Terry Goodkind - I... haven't read this yet. I've read the first book twice but I haven't continued on, for some reason, and I really want to. I am also terrified to go past that part of their story. I don't know why, but I'm just scared. I mean there are over ten books in this series, too many things could happen.
  • Assassin's Apprentice (the Farseer Trilogy in general) - I've owned the first book for years and have never gotten to it. Now that I own the whole trilogy, I'm hoping that I can finally get to it. Books 2 and 3 get pretty hefty, but not too big. And I've heard fantastic things.
  • Gaiman - there aren't too much I haven't gotten to it, but I'm still surprised that I haven't gotten to it yet. Mostly, I'm talking about these few books: Neverwhere, The Graveyard Book, Anansi Boys, Smoke and Mirrors, and The Sandman series (I've read volume one, but haven't continued yet). Not too many of his to read, but I'm really looking forward to trying to get through them.
And there we go - there are, of course, hundreds of books that I haven't read yet that I'm surprised that I haven't gotten to. Although, any books I haven't read yet I go: why haven't I read that yet? WHY? Which is fine, but I want to read all the things. I believe it's a common problem among book lovers, but it definitely makes lists like this hard (why did I pick this?). I kind of just went with what popped into my head first - some of them are honestly why, other are just kind of not that surprising or continuations of series, but still.

So - what books can you not believe you haven't read to? Ones that everyone talks about or ones that have been on your shelves for so long they have their own specific place to sit?

Also, appropriately, a video just went up today called How to Bust TBR Guilt (book riot youtube channel).

Top Ten Tuesday: New-To-Me Authors I Read in 2014

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Broke and the Bookish, this week is all about authors that were new to you in 2014. I'm not even sure, at the moment, who I'm going to be picking. There were a few new to me authors I've fallen in love with this year.

These aren't really in any particular order, just as they popped into my head or as I browsed through my goodreads challenge pages to jog my memory.

Maggie Stievfater - I read The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves so far and completely fell in love. The first books in a while that I've just fallen head over heels for, I can't explain what I mean by that, but they were different. And I've already reached the point where she can do no wrong in this series (which is my favorite point to be in a series. Who wouldn't want to enjoy a series instead of be disappointed?) I haven't read Blue Lily, Lily Blue, or any of her other works, but I'm definitely planning on it very soon.

(Note: I hate this cover, the paperback US one. It's just... they look like a boy band, alright? Don't even try to deny it - They've even got The Raven Boys over them and the head tilt, looking off things going on. Boy band. Which is hilarious if you really start to think about it. I can't hate it because of how amusing I find it, which is a strange feeling).
Stephanie Perkins - I'd met Stephanie before and actually first heard of her books through either John Green or at LeakyCon (and then realized her husband was in Gred and Forge, it's a weird word friends, also there's a wizard rock band rec for you). I read all three of the Anna books, I'm not sure what else to call them, and I really enjoyed all of them. I'm hesitant to pick a favorite, but I'd probably say Lola if pressed.

Emery Lord - her debut, Open Road Summer, was one of the contemporaries I read this summer, when I suddenly got thrown into a contemporary kick. And it definitely pushed me to read more contemporary. It had a fantastic friendship between these two girls and also a good love story, and talking about it makes me want to reread it. Fantastic debut, and I'm super excited for her next book.

John Scalzi - I owned Scalzi books, meaning to read it with the Sword and Laser book club, but never ended up doing it. And then, randomly, I picked up Redshirts and had this kind of 'holy shit' moment. I'm not a Star Trek fan, but I don't think you have to be. I was, and still am, mildly (very, like very) obsessed with Stargate SG-1 (the show) and the jokes about some of the stuff was completely hilarious to read about. And Old Mans War was incredible, I wasn't sure what to think about it, but I highly, highly recommend it.

James S.A. Corey - Space. Opera. I'd never really thought about it, considering how much I loved Stargate, that I'd like space opera. The Expanse series is a set in a far future and has so many elements - there's the ship crew element, the noire detective element, and then the horror element. It's fantastic, I highly recommend it. So far I've only read books one and two, and four are out, and five is coming out next year. And there's going to be a show starting next year on SyFy.

Patrick Rothfuss - I've only read The Name of the Wind, but I'm including him because I loved that book. He has a gorgeous writing style and such a way to tell stories. Normally I just want to know what happens, but this book was different - the story, the way it was told, everything that was happening. Basically - highly recommended. (Full review)

Derek Landy - Skulduggery Pleasant. It's a middle grade series about a young girl, who is strong and kickass, and a skeleton detective. It's smart and the dialogue is hilarious, and I just really have loved the first two books in this series (haven't had time to read it book three yet, but I'm planning to soon).

Kelly Armstrong - I'd never read Kelly Armstrong before this year. I know. And I've only read one book so far by her, Sea of Shadows, but I really enjoyed that and I'm definitely going to have to try out her other series. And I can't wait for book two in Age of Legends series.

Gene Luen Yang - I've read American Born Chinese and the Boxers & Saints duology by him, just this year of course, and I really enjoyed all three of them. I don't know if I can articulate anything about these - but they're freaking fantastic.

Matt Fraction - A comic book author, I've read Hawkeye and Sex Criminals, and I'm loving everything I've read by him. I can't wait to read more by him. Hawkeye was fantastic and the art, too, was also incredible. (Same for Sex Criminals)

I'm cheating with a bonus author: Leigh Bardugo. I marathoned her Grisha trilogy and really loved it, and I'm sure I wouldn't of loved them so much if I hadn't. But I really did and I'm really excited for her new book in 2015 that's set in the same world.

Whew - that was last minute, normally I do all my TTT's ahead of time, knowing which ones I want to do, but this was one of those 'I saw all the lists and wanted to join in.' I read so many good books this year and I know I've never going to be really able to spotlight all of them. I'm already trying to work on my top books of 2014 list and am considering making a separate post for the comics/manga I read in the year.

What are you top new-to-you authors? And were these any of yours? Or are you looking forward to reading any of these?

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Sequels I Can't Wait To Get

Top Ten Tuesday is a mean hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Two Top Ten Tuesdays in one month? Whoa there - let's calm down, brain, but I guess I do have a lot of sequels I'm waiting for, so I might as well talk about some of them - shall we?

Firelight (Reckoners #2) by Brandon Sanderson
First off, this is going to be far from the only Sanderson book on the list. Now - I loved Steelheart and I can't wait for this to come out in January. I'm debating rereading Steelheart before or just diving in. I remember Steelheart very well, but it's Sanderson.

Sex Criminals, Vol 2: Two Worlds, One Cop by Matt Fraction
I read volume one recently and was shocked about how much I enjoyed it. And, just to point it out, I saw that title and was just like: that is perfect, perfect. There are some comics I, apparently, am doomed to read in trade paperbacks, and speaking of....

Saga, Vol 4 by Brian K. Vaughan
This coming out soon - so soon, I can't wait, I"m so excited. This comic book is weird, graphic, strange, warped, and a little fucked up overall and I kind of love it for all of that.

Coffin Hill, Vol 2 by Caitlin Kitteredge
Apparently this comes out January 2015 - which I am super excited for. Volume one was dark and fucked up and a lot of fun (sensing a theme in my comic book taste? It's not all, but it's a lot).

The Inventors Secret #2 by Andrea Cremer
There isn't even actually a goodreads thing for book two, but it is suppose to be a series. So I have no idea when it's coming out, but that book was not a standalone - give me more of the weird, romping, steampunk, ridiculousness!

Salt and Stone (Fire and Flood #2) by Victoria Scott
I liked book one in this series a lot more then I expected too - so I'm looking forward to book two. I'm not... like yes, yes ohmygod gimme, but I am looking forward to it.

Empire of Night (Age of Legends #2) by Kelly Armstrong
I'm really, really excited for this - publication set as April 2015. I really loved the first book, it was a fast paced, fun ride and I'm hoping book two will be a lot like it.

Shadows of Self by Brandon Sanderson
The second book in the second Mistborn trilogy (the trilogy of trilogy, three trilogies. This would be book two in the second trilogy). I'm excited for this, because apparently it's coming out in 2015?, even though I haven't read The Allow of Law, yet. I just know I'm going to completely love it.

Stormlight Archives #3 by Brandon Sanderson
There is no way to know when this will be out, I haven't read book two yet - but I don't care. It's Stormlight and I want more and I know I"m going to fucking love it and cannot wait.

Public Enemies (The Immortal Game #2) by Ann Aquirre
I really loved book one, even though I know it got some mixed reviews - and I can't wait to get my hands on book two.

I'm pretty sure there are more books that I could add, but I think this a pretty good list. There's some sequels that are coming out, but I haven't actually even started the series yet or have only read the first books, so I wasn't going to count those.

What sequels are you looking forward to?

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I Want to Reread

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. I don't normally do it, just because I can't normally think of enough things to fill up the list - but there are always books I want to reread. These aren't going to be in any particular order and keep in mind I've already read a ton of books this year.

Books to Reread Just for Fun:

It by Stephen King
I reread this book, normally, at least once a year. The first time I read it - I read it over and over for probably longer then is healthy and probably explains my complete obsession with King's books and the characters in them.

Harry, A History by Melissa Anelli
It's been a few years at this point and, since I've read it, a lot has changed - I've met Melissa a few times and a few LeakyCons have passed. I'm pretty sure I've already sold my soul to Melissa and I'm pretty sure I'm never going to regret it - and if you're confused she's a fantastic women who runs (with help, of course) LeakyCon and started TheLeakyCauldron (news/fan website) and is just all around kind of kickass.

Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick
I also loved The Adventures of Huge Cabret by him - but Wonderstruck stuck with me more, I adored it to pieces when I read it and would love to reread it at some point and take extra time to savor it.

The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archives #1) by Brandon Sanderson
This could probably go below, because I definitely want to reread it before reading Words of Radiance even though I'm sure I could continue on without doing so. Not surprising since I just read this book a few months ago. But I wanted to put it here because....

+ Anything by Brandon Sanderson or Stephen King that I've already read (possibly also Scalzi)
This is the sign of my favorite authors - where when as soon as I finish something of theirs, I want to start it over again immediately. I've already reread some of Sanderson's books and I just started reading them last year. And King - I've reread the books I've started with countless times, and I'm starting to feel like I'm ready for a reread on pretty much all of them (even though he probably has like 50 books or whatever I haven't read), like Bag of Bones or Duma Key or Dreamcatcher.

Books to ReRead So I can Continue With the Series

Sandman, Vol 1 by Neil Gaiman
I mostly remember this book, but I don't want to keep going unless I have a complete understanding of it - because I might not and then I'd been confused and bewildered and annoyed at myself.

A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle #1) by Libba Bray
Part of a trilogy and I loved this book and for some reason never continued on and now - I barely remember any of it so I couldn't continue on until I read this one.

Soulless (plus the other two) (Parasol Protectorate #1-3) by Gail Carriger
A fantastic series that I didn't continue on with because of spoiler-y reasons - not because I didn't like it, just because I was scared of where it would go. I love this series, the characters. It's so rich and interesting.

Camille (Camille #1) by Tess Oliver
I didn't actually realize, or just remember, that this was a series until I went to go look it up. I read this in 2011 and I just remember really loving and enjoying the whole thing and wanting more. To be fair, it's a pretty short book and apparently there is more, but I'd have to reread this first - I only remember faint snippets.

Whole Series I'd Like to Reread

The Strangely Beautiful series by Leanna Renee Hieber
I love the books of Leanna's I've read so far and her writing, the atmosphere. And these books were very strange, and I very much adored them when I first read them. They were so ridiculously fun and so, so good. I picked up the first when I met her, a little accidentally, at a book signing for her and Robyn Schneider (who my friend Haley and I had met before). And it ended with us sitting in the car, on the way back, reading the whole way - and I'd love to revisit this series.

The Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld
Also 2011. For some reason - I can't remember, apparently, a lot of the books I read that year. Anyway, I remember loving this series and I do remember a lot of it but I want to experience it again. And lately I've been seeing some things about it again. I've never read his Uglies series (not because I don't want to, just because so many books), but this series gets a surprisingly little amount of love - I really, really loved it when I read it. This and the Leviathan series, which I'd also love to reread.

As you can tell I'm a rereader. I love rereading books - because I've forgotten them, because it's not basically something I have to do every so often. I've reread a lot of books this year alone, it's been a very, very good year for it and I"m glad for that, I like making time for rereading books.

There are so many more that I want to reread, or even need to reread to continue on with the series. Do you participate in TTT? Have you reread anything lately?

Top Ten Tuesday - May 8th (1)

This is a feature that's run over at the Broke and the Bookish, which is an awesome blog. And it's a feature that occurs every Tuesday and I've been wanting to participate for a while and, apparently, today is the day. Mostly because today is about quotes and I love quotes. Specifically today's one is: Top Ten Favorite Quotes From Books. This is going to be hard, I love quotes. I'm going to make it smaller and say these are some of my favorite funny quotes. (Well, I find them funny, at least, I hope you will, too).

These are just some random funny quotes that make me smile/laugh. There aren't any real spoilers down there, but here's a list of the books that these quotes are from: The Titan's Curse, Paper Towns, City of Bones, City of Glass, Name of the Star, Changeless, The Lightning Thief, Darker Still, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and Half-Blood Prince.

Favorite Quotes From Books(Humor/Funny):

1.
“Let us find the dam snack bar," Zoe said. "We should eat while we can."
Grover cracked a smile. "The dam snack bar?"
Zoe blinked. "Yes. What is funny?"
"Nothing," Grover said, trying to keep a straight face. "I could use some dam french fries."
Even Thalia smiled at that. "And I need to use the dam restroom."
...
I started cracking up, and Thalia and Grover joined in, while Zoe just looked at me. "I do not understand."
"I want to use the dam water fountain," Grover said.
"And..." Thalia tried to catch her breath. "I want to buy a dam t-shirt.”
Rick Riordan, The Titan's Curse

Radar threw his books into his locker and shut it. Then the din of conversation around us quieted just as a bit as he turned his eyes towards the heavens and shouted, "IT'S NOT MY FAULT MY PARENTS OWN THE WORLD'S LARGEST COLLECTION OF BLACK SANTAS!"
John Green, Paper Towns

3.
"Don't order any of the faerie food," said Jace, looking at her over the top of his menu. "It tends to make humans a little crazy. One minute you're munching a faerie plum, the next minute you're running naked down Madison Avenue with antlers on your head. Not," he added hastily, "that this has ever happened to me."
Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

"Patient, grasshopper," said Maia. "Good things come to those who wait."
"I always thought it was 'good things come to those who do the wave,'" said Simon. "No wonder I've been so confused all my life."
Cassandra Clare, City of Glass

Welsh is actual, currently used language and our next-door neighbors Angela and Gaenor spoke it. It sounds like Wizard.

"Coffee first. Schemes later."

"In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

10.
"Do you remember me telling you we are practicing non-verbal spells, Potter?"
"Yes," said Harry stiffly
"Yes, sir."
"There's no need to call me 'sir,' Professor." The words had escaped him before he knew what he was saying.
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

These aren't in any specific order and they're probably not all my favorite, favorite. I can think of tons more that I love, but these are the random ones I found going through the ones I'm 'liked' on Goodreads. (These are all from Goodreads, by the way, so if there's anything wrong with them, I'm truly sorry). Also, I haven't actually read the Restaurant at the End of the Universe yet, so there's that. Anyway, if you did a Top Ten Tuesday today or whenever, feel free to link me in the comments, I love theses kinds of things!
