Bout of Books 12 | Day Two Wrap-Up

Day twoooo! I feel better about the reading for today, even though I (in book numbers) read less, because I felt better about the reading. Rating wise, enjoyment wise.

Number of Books Completed Today: 2

Total Number of Books Completed: 5

Books:
Ouran High School Host Club, Volume 1 by Bisco Hatori (started and finished - 184 pages)
Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix (s+f - 243 pages)

Number of Pages Read: 427

Total Number of Pages Read: 761

Notes/Thoughts:
Ouran - so much love, I'll cut myself off before the fangirling begins. And I ended up enjoying Horrorstör more then I expected. Full mini reviews in the weekly wrap up!

I've been reading peoples updates, but not commenting on them. So tomorrow, I'd like to comment on at least five posts, instead of just reading them and lurking. (I will do it. I was getting better at commenting, and then I got distracted by books).

And tomorrow, Wednesday, there is the twitter chat! The latest one of the week. It's at 9 for me, so that'll probably be the end of the reading day for me, so I'm going to try and not get on my laptop until about an hour before that (so I can get some stuff done before the chat, and then chat).

  1. I'm glad Horrorstor was good! I was thinking about reading it for bout of books, but I'm nervous that it's not going to be scary at all and it'll just be funny/quirky. Was that the case?

    1. I didn't find it scary, but I'm a bit obsessed with horror so I might be a bit desensitized. At points it was just slightly creepy, but I definitely found it more funny/quirky then anything.

    2. That's what I'm nervous about. I watch/read too much horror, so it's hard to get a scare out of me anymore!

    3. I've gone into horror books since I was young knowing they won't scare me about 95% of the time. I normally can appreciate what they're trying to do? Normally I'm giggling? I'm not sure if that makes me sound very strange or not...
If you're looking for one that'll freak you out - have you read House of Leaves?
People say it's terrifying, but it was just a kind of slowly building tension that built to: was that there last night when I went to bed? Very psychological and very claustrophobic read, for sure.

    4. Yessss that's actually one of my favorite books ever! I definitely wasn't terrified by that, but I felt very uncomfortable for sure. Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer had that same effect on me, even though it's not strictly a horror book. Being alone in my apartment at night was suddenly kind of an iffy situation haha.

    5. Ooooh, I'll have to check that one out! I think I like those more, mostly because I can't find any that can't honestly scare me.
